Bumble review 2026: prices, free features and tips
Bumble is a free dating app with ID verification, video chat and optional paid tiers. See what you can do without paying, what Premium costs in the UK App Store and how to cancel a subscription.
Thinking of trying Bumble and want a Bumble review that sticks to the facts? Here is what the app offers in the UK, what you can do for free, what the paid tiers add and how to cancel a subscription. The information comes from Bumble’s UK App Store listing and its support centre.
What is Bumble and who runs it?
Bumble is a dating app for iPhone and Android. In the UK App Store it appears as “Bumble Dating app: Chat & Date”, sold by Bumble Holding Limited. You must be 18 or over to use it. Bumble is a separate company from Match Group, which runs Match, Ourtime, Hinge and Tinder.
Bumble works with swipes: you see profiles one by one and swipe right if you are interested. When both people swipe right, you have a match and a limited time to start the conversation. Bumble does not publish UK user numbers on the pages we checked, so we do not give any.
What is free on Bumble?
Bumble is free to download and use. According to the UK App Store listing, the free features include:
- a profile with photos, interests and prompts
- ID verification, so others can see your profile has been checked
- video chat and photo sharing inside the app
- a message check against the community guidelines
- sharing your date details with a trusted contact
- Snooze Mode, to pause your profile without deleting it
Matching and chatting with your matches are part of the free version. The paid tiers mainly give you more control: more swipes, more filters and a view of who already likes you.
Premium and other paid tiers: prices and renewal
According to the App Store listing, Bumble Premium adds:
- see who likes you
- advanced filters
- rematch with expired connections
- Incognito Mode
- extend matches by 24 hours
- unlimited swiping and Travel Mode
- free SuperSwipes and Spotlights each week
There is also Bumble Boost, a lighter subscription, and Premium+, which Bumble’s support centre lists alongside Boost and Premium. SuperSwipes, which show strong interest, and Spotlights, which put your profile in front of more people, can also be bought on their own.
In the UK App Store, “7 Days Bumble Premium” is listed at £9.99. The store also lists “Bumble Premium” items between £13.99 and £16.99 and Boost items from £2.49, but without saying how long each one lasts. The exact price and period are shown in the app before you pay.
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. According to Bumble’s support centre, cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep your paid perks until the end of the period you have paid for.
Who is Bumble for?
- people who like a quick, visual swipe format
- those who value ID verification and video chat before meeting
- anyone who wants to chat with matches without paying
Bumble may suit you less if you want detailed profiles and suggestions based on compatibility, or if the time limit on new matches puts you under pressure.
Is Bumble Premium worth it?
You can match and chat on Bumble without paying, so Premium is a convenience rather than a necessity. It is most useful if you want to see who has already liked you, filter more precisely or bring back a match that expired before anyone wrote.
If you want to try it, the seven-day Premium option is the smallest commitment listed in the UK App Store. It renews automatically, so cancel in your subscription settings straight after buying if you only want the trial week. You keep the paid features until the end of the period.
Bumble is one of several free apps worth comparing. Hinge focuses on prompts and comments, and Tinder is free to like, match and chat, with Tinder Plus from £3.99 in the UK App Store. Dating sites such as Match and eharmony ask for more detail up front. Our guide on how to choose a dating app helps you decide.
Tips for using Bumble for free
- Get verified. ID verification is free and makes your profile more trustworthy.
- Fill in interests and prompts. They give your matches something to start with. See our dating app bio examples.
- Reply quickly. Matches expire if nobody writes, so open the app regularly.
- Use video chat before meeting. A short call is a simple way to check that the person matches their photos.
- Share your plans. Use the trusted contact feature and read our dating app safety guide.
- Write a first message that is about them. Our tips on the first message on a dating app can help.
How to cancel Bumble Premium
According to Bumble’s support centre, how you cancel depends on how you paid:
- Apple App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Bumble → Cancel Subscription
- Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Bumble → Cancel Subscription
- Card, PayPal or Apple Pay in the app: profile icon → Subscription details → Manage your subscription → cancel
Deleting your account or the app does not cancel the subscription. If you cannot access the app, Bumble’s support team can help. This is general information, not legal advice.
